Why Babyface: What's in a name?

in

Babyface - NOTSo, why Babyface? Some people think it's a cute name. Some people think it's stupid. Some people send me fan mail thinking we have something to do with the musician/producer Kenny "babyface" Edmunds (Kenny, if your reading this, gracie345 wants to have your baby). Regardless, people tend to remember the name. But as of yet, no one has ever made the mistake of thinking I was the eponymous babyface.

O.P.M. (Other People's Messes)

It's Tuesday afternoon. Do you know where your web developer is?

Not a week goes by where I don't get a call from some damsel in distress or some suit'n-tie in need of a fixer (re: Pulp Fiction’s Winston 'The Wolf' Wolfe).

The narrative goes as follows:

There's a new restaurant in Los Angeles called Kogi whose use of the web gives a whole new twist on the concept of delivery. Kogi (kogibbq.com) has a unique menu combining Mexican / Korean foods. Web 101 – Get Fresh With Your Customers

This is a pop quiz.

Go to your website.

Has anything changed since your last visit? Since last week? Last month? Has it been that long?

If you answered “not much has changed” or worse yet, “nothing”, then think about your business. Ask yourself what’s changed about your business since last month? Or last week? Or even, yesterday? Did you roll out a new product? Win over a big client? Add to your sales staff? Received an important award? Or has business slowed and you need to get more aggressive with your marketing?

From the Drupal site: Drupal is a free software package that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website.

New Name, New Look, New Site

After much fretting, sweating and procrastination BabyFace Software is now BabyFace Interactive with a new look and a new website (and a new blog!).

Is the site done? Well, no. But it'll never be done and it'll never be perfect and if I wait for either, it'll never be published.

I am reminded of the following quote:

“It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory.” - W.E. Deming

And change we will, whether we like it or not.
